Welcome to 1st Grade!
We wanted to share some ideas to help both you and your child have a smooth transition into 1st Grade.
· Continue to read over the summer. Raz-Kids is a great resource if your Kindergarten teacher made this site available (see our Apps/Games page).
· Play Math games when possible, even in the car.
· Practice tying shoes, opening lunch containers, opening/closing water bottles independently.
· Role play problem solving age appropriate resolutions to conflict.
Example 1: Your friend won’t play with you today. What should you do?
Example 2: Your teacher forgot to give you a paper. What should you do?
· Put your child’s name on folders, composition books, back packs, zippered pencil bag (NOT a pencil box), all clothing, water bottles, & lunch containers.
· Click here for the Lower School Supply list for the 2016-17 school year.
